Yes, it is. The globe valve is used to control the flow capacity. The globe shut-off valve is similar to the globe control valve but requires manual operation. The globe valve with an actuator becomes a control valve, although the control valve has some additional parameters in its design.

All valves have a plug, which can throttling the process flow rate or pressure. In a shut-off valve, it is a smooth throttling (the operating wheel can be adjusted to control the flow, that is, to increase and decrease throttling) and very effective. Gate valves are usually used to stop and start operations. The check valve controls the reverse flow of the process liquid. The ball valve is a 90-degree angle rotary valve, used where a fireproof design (quick opening and closing) is required.
