3-Function Pressure Vacuum Valve

The 3-Function Pressure Vacuum Valve improves on the basic functionality of an air vent head by adding a nitrogen gas preservation feature. It opens at a pressure of 200-300 mmWC and opens in a vacuum range of 200-300 mmWC. This valve is designed to be used on ships in ballast water treatment systems to replace the conventional air vent heads.

Functional Description For 3-Function Pressure Vacuum Valve

1. Upper Cover Plate (Vacuum Function)

The main purpose of the upper cover plate is to handle negative pressure (vacuum) inside the tank. When a vacuum occurs inside the tank, the upper cover plate opens up to allow air to flow into the tank to neutralize the vacuum.

2. Upper Cover Plate with Anti-Water Ingress

In addition to vacuum control, the upper cover plate has a water-blocking feature. When a vacuum is detected, the plate opens up to allow air to flow into the tank. At the same time, a floating ball rises to prevent water from coming in. This allows the system to let air in without letting water in, which keeps the tank integrity.

3. Lower Cover Plate (Positive Pressure Function)

The lower cover plate is there to handle positive pressure inside the tank. When positive pressure occurs, the lower cover plate opens up to let air out, which balances the pressure inside and outside the tank, so you don’t have an overpressure situation.
